Recreation staff proposes field rental policy; Select Board asks for oversight on events requiring services

Erica (speaker 15) told the Select Board that Recreation has received multiple requests to host events on town fields and proposed a field rental policy modeled on Lawrence Barn rules. The draft policy would address liability, damage, fees and insurance requirements and, as presented, would restrict rental to Hollis residents.
Board members asked that the final policy include a clear requirement that events that require police, fire, traffic control or other town services be submitted to the Select Board for approval, so the board can review public-safety implications, staffing needs and community impacts. The chair said the board will review a revised policy after staff adds that provision.
Erica agreed to revise the policy to include Select Board review for events requiring town services and to return the document through staff to the next meeting for formal approval.
