Elm Grove Plan Commission notes wellness clinic inquiry, Za deck proposal and launches comprehensive-plan special meeting next week

During other business on May 4 the Elm Grove Plan Commission addressed three separate non-voting items.
President Jim Koleski relayed a resident question raised at a recent Board of Trustees meeting asking whether prescription drugs or medications are dispensed at the Wellness Grove clinic on Watertown Plank Road under its Conditional Use Permit and whether such activity could attract criminal activity. Zoning Administrator Ethan Sowl and Village Manager Tom Harrigan said staff will meet with the building owner this Wednesday to clarify operations and conditions tied to the CUP.
The Commission also previewed a Za restaurant proposal for a small outdoor deck. Zoning Administrator Sowl said the applicant revised plans to keep the deck to the property line rather than extend into the right-of-way; the item will come before the Plan Commission in June because it changes the plan of operation and would require a setback deviation under the downtown district rules.
Finally, Village Manager Harrigan described a special Wednesday meeting to launch a year-long comprehensive-plan update, which will include state-mandated resolutions to initiate the process, a procedural overview, resident surveying and downtown master planning. President Koleski confirmed that certain state-required resolutions will need approval at that meeting to formally begin the update.
