Facilities chief Brad asks commissioners for maintenance hires, ADA plans and chiller repairs

He formally proposed hiring a full-time facility maintenance worker for the jails at a salary of $39,790 plus 25% benefits to avoid repeatedly pulling crews off other work for jail emergencies.
For capital and improvement projects, Brad said he had an architect quote of $35,000 to produce working blueprints to make the county court-at-law courtroom ADA-accessible and discussed a conceptual $400,000 construction estimate. He also described concrete work, flooring and remodeling needs at the Ag Farm building and the tax office (roughly $9,000 requested for flooring/ceiling/lighting).
Brad reported issues with a 20-year-old chiller running on one compressor and said a trusted mechanic estimated about $3,000 to attempt a repair; a full replacement could cost more. He asked commissioners to consider a repair attempt before approving a full replacement. He also requested $40,000 to replace door rollers and sensors on three courthouse elevators and $20,000 for restroom stall replacements.
Brad closed by reiterating smaller requests (landscaping, airport restrooms, window cleaning) and said he would return to work after the court recessed for lunch.
