At the June 24 meeting, the Pompton Lakes Zoning Board of Adjustment reviewed a set of standing project updates under unfinished business.
Staff reported ongoing discussions about the field house and playground, noting some unresolved issues. A pedestrian footbridge project is still under negotiation but is expected to start in September. Lakeside Park improvements — specifically security work for the gazebo — remain in progress with no new update.
Board members noted an approximate $3,000,000 figure tied to a Willowfield project (speaker 7 described the figure as "completely astronomical"). A separate small grant request to redo the basketball court at Stiles Park for $12,000 was denied and will be resubmitted, the Chair said.
The Chair also reported that a flood-hazard permit for the Dallas Highway bridge project has been submitted to the county and that the county now has design materials needed to put the box-bridge work out to bid.
Why it matters: These items reflect capital and maintenance priorities that affect public recreation and pedestrian infrastructure; the Willowfield cost estimate, if accurate, would represent a substantial local investment and likely require further review and funding decisions.
Next step: Staff will follow up on grant reapplication for Stiles Park, continue coordination on the bridge and field-house items, and report further updates at future meetings.
