Golf, airport and police give routine updates to Afton council

At the May 12 meeting, Golf Director Bryce Burton told the council that a mild winter allowed the golf course to open earlier than usual, irrigation was charged March 19, summer staff have been hired and an RFP has been sent to a prospective Montana contractor. Mr. Bryce Burton described the course as "in good shape heading into the summer."
Airport Manager Heath Lawson provided an overview of the airport's budget, current and upcoming projects, activity levels, noise abatement efforts and strategic plans.
Chief Jason Romberg updated the council on police call volumes, proposed equipment purchases including a speed trailer, vehicle disposal proposals, and reported that Officer Booth is performing well in the academy. Chief Romberg also noted he posted to Facebook regarding enforcement of regulations governing e-bicycles and e-dirt bikes.
