Afton council approves multiple rezoning measures and next-year budget, tables one rezoning

The Afton Town Council on May 12 passed multiple ordinances affecting local zoning and the town budget and tabled one rezoning request.
Ordinance 703, rezoning Lot 1 in Sessions Village, passed on third and final reading after a motion by Council Member Dirk Hillyard and a second; the motion carried unanimously. Ordinance 704, rezoning Afton 89 Ranch, LLC, likewise passed on third and final reading unanimously. Council moved to table Ordinance 705, the rezoning request for Colters Lodge, on its third reading; the motion to table carried unanimously. Ordinance 706, amending Chapter 5 of Title I concerning a Defensive Driving Dismissal Program, passed on second reading with stated changes after a motion by Council Member Scott Griffith and a second by Council Member Dirk Hillyard; the motion carried unanimously. Ordinance 707 (rezoning Ted Frome Lot 4 replat) and Ordinance 708 (fiscal year budget for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027) were each passed as noted in the minutes by motions and unanimous votes.
The council also discussed proceeding with a west alley improvement project while quiet tile work is in progress.
The meeting included a brief executive session called at 8:56 p.m. to consider real estate, personnel and litigation matters; the council returned to open session at 9:11 p.m. with no action taken.
