Pulaski commission discusses $2 million Pulaski Community Park grant, Shippy Park bridge funding and opens nominations

The Pulaski Parks & Recreation Commission reported at its Jan. 14 meeting that it has applied for a $2,000,000 grant for the Pulaski Community Park and that a decision is expected in spring 2026. Commissioners discussed potential uses for grant funds if the application is successful.
Separately, the commission noted park impact fees are intended to contribute to a bridge at Shippy Park; members said they expect a response from the county about that funding question in February before committing funds.
Commissioners also discussed fundraising options for parks through a sponsorship program called sPARKing Community (Shippy Park and Pulaski Community Park editions). Gordi Black agreed to draft sponsorship levels, Ernie Allen said he would contact Bonduel for additional information, and Chair Stephanie Rodgers said she would research the cost of benches and picnic tables.
On membership, the commission confirmed two openings for village residents. The commission recorded a motion establishing a nominations timeline: nominees must be submitted by Jan. 31, 2026, and appointments are to be made by Feb. 11, 2026. Adam Winkler indicated interest in filling a vacant seat during the public comment period. Members also discussed adding Nicole Challis as a non‑voting representative to provide feedback.
The commission expects more information on the Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan from consultants in February and plans to pursue grants and donations as part of park development work.
