The Township Council authorized the purchase of a new Horton Model 623 Type I Ford F‑Series ambulance for Mahwah Emergency Medical Services through the Houston‑Galveston Area Council (HGAC) cooperative purchasing contract.
Administration presented a memo and a vendor quote from Bay Head Investments, Inc., dba VCI Emergency Vehicle Specialists, showing pricing under HGAC Contract AM10‑23 of $452,053. The Council approved the procurement at the Feb. 5 meeting, with funding to come from the Township’s 2024 capital account (04‑215‑55‑100‑024). The Business Administrator noted that the purchase was competitively advantageous because the vehicle was not available on a New Jersey state contract and that HGAC prices provided an estimated savings compared with the expense and time required to issue a new municipal bid.
The memo accompanying the resolution said administrative steps to use the HGAC cooperative had been completed, including publication of a legal notice of intent and collection of required vendor compliance documents, and that the Chief Financial Officer certified sufficient funds were available. Officials said final ordering and delivery timelines will be coordinated by MEMS and the Finance office.
