Blakely council: backup feed restored power after PP&L substation fault; AMP to cover $10,000 adjustment

A brief power outage in Blakely on Oct. 14 was caused by a fault at a Pennsylvania Power & Light substation, councilmember Kyle Burak told the council on Oct. 21.
"Our electricians were able to switch to our backup feed and most power was restored within approximately 25 minutes," Burak said. He reported that PP&L has agreed to adjust its settings to avoid recurring overreach that interferes with Blakely's protection scheme. Burak said the cost of that adjustment is $10,000 and that American Municipal Power has agreed to cover the expense.
The report was given during the Electric Light committee update and was presented as information to the full council; no formal vote was recorded on the issue.
Councilmembers also discussed regular electric-payable totals in the finance documents presented that evening. The council approved the bills for payment as part of routine business.
Next steps: the borough will monitor implementation of PP&L's setting adjustments and the town's electricians will continue maintenance of the backup feed.
