Council member Kevin Swift told the Blakely Borough Council on Sept. 16 that the 2024 Sidewalk Project will begin Monday, Sept. 23.
Council member Kyle Burak reported that Blakely Electric crews have triaged and are trimming trees growing near primary power lines, with trimming on secondary lines to follow. Burak said the work is being carried out based on recommendations from the electric crew.
Burak also announced a Public Power Week event on Oct. 10 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the rear parking lot of the Valley Community Library where borough electricians will display the tools and equipment they use in day-to-day operations.
What to expect: the meeting record did not list specific street segments for sidewalk work or exact neighborhoods for immediate tree trimming; residents with concerns were advised to bring issues to the council or borough administration for follow-up. There was no formal vote on these items; the entries were informational and part of committee reports.
