Blakely reports DPW garage progress, electric-system upgrade and new ambulance vehicle

The Mine Cave Commission report, read into the record by Borough Secretary Christopher R. Paone, states all mine openings and voids were secure as of Nov. 18, 2024; the council accepted the report. Building updates noted insulation installation at the new Department of Public Works (DPW) garage and that the garage doors are being installed. The front parking lot at the future community center site was sealed and restriped to a new configuration in preparation for public meetings on the project.
On utilities, Electric Light Committee updates say borough electricians, with the borough's electrical engineer, placed one of the new circuit reclosers into service with updated programming designed to correspond with PPL Electric Utilities's substation programming; that alignment will allow the borough to install additional reclosers throughout town. Emergency-services remarks noted the Blakely Borough Community Ambulance placed a new 2024 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 into service to replace an older Suburban.
