Elections Commission approves extra poll worker and consolidates precinct for May 5 local election

Kristi DeVerney, City Clerk, called the meeting to order at 8:12 a.m. and noted that Attorney Donkersloot was present and Mayor VanDorp was absent. The commission first approved the minutes from its April 6, 2026 meeting on a motion by Attorney Donkersloot, seconded by Kristi DeVerney.
On new business, the commission voted to add JoAnn Morren as a precinct worker for the May 5 local election. The motion to approve Morren was made by Attorney Donkersloot and supported by City Clerk Kristi DeVerney; the motion carried with Donkersloot and DeVerney recorded as voting aye and Mayor VanDorp recorded as absent.
DeVerney also reported that the two precincts serving the jurisdiction will be combined into a single precinct for the May 5 election; the consolidated polling place will be the Lester Hoogland Banquet Room at the Howard Miller Library/Community Center. The minutes do not record a separate vote on the consolidation, which was reported by the clerk as an administrative change related to the upcoming local election.
There were no other items on the agenda. Attorney Donkersloot moved to adjourn, DeVerney seconded, and the commission adjourned at 8:15 a.m.
