Selectmen appoint resident to two commissions; several items tabled for July 21

At its July 7 meeting the Town of Marlborough Board of Selectmen unanimously appointed Melissa Griffore as an alternate member of the Conservation Commission for a four-year term and as an alternate for the Lake Advisory Commission for a three-year term after a motion by Selectman Louise Concodello and a second by Selectman Anthony Bratz.

Several unfinished-business items were deferred for further review. The board tabled the Lake Road sidewalk contractor award to July 21 so the planning director can complete reference checks; an earlier agenda note shows the project will use a TRIP grant with a $80,000 town match allocated in 2024. The allocation of speed camera funds for a DPW dump truck remained previously tabled to July 21. Town Manager David Porter reported on discussions with the town attorney and directed follow-up with Assessor Simon Wake regarding a disabled veterans property tax abatement and possible refunds of prior years; Selectmen discussed whether to hold a special meeting with the resident and ultimately tabled the item for further staff consultation.

Porter asked to table the Assistant Finance Director position while he completes the job description; the board voted to table that item to the July 21 meeting as well.

Next steps: the board will revisit the Lake Road sidewalk award, the Assistant Finance Director job description, speed camera fund allocation, and the veterans abatement at the July 21 meeting or after staff returns with requested information.
