Commission hears resident question about wellness clinic drugs, previews downtown deck to return in June

During other business the commission heard a resident inquiry about whether prescription drugs were dispensed at a wellness clinic. The Chair asked staff for a follow-up; Ethan reported the clinic operator, identified in materials as Milwaukee Anxiety Center, told staff that "no no drugs drugs or substances are" handled at the facility.
Commissioners said they would like that inquiry closed and recorded in the approval files for a conditional use permit related to that building. Staff indicated they will meet with the building owner this week and confirm details.
Staff also previewed a proposal from Zaa for a small deck on Watertown Plank Street that might extend to the property line and therefore requires plan commission review and a potential setback deviation. Ethan said the applicant ultimately decided not to pursue using public right-of-way and will instead bring a revised plan in June. Commissioners and staff discussed downtown parking constraints, cross-access easements and options to secure additional parking before the application is considered.
Finally, staff reminded the commission that a joint meeting on Wednesday will be held in the O'Neil Room (not the courtroom) to launch a year-long planning process that includes state-mandated resolutions and an early review of the comprehensive and downtown master plan activities.
