Board approves AP precalculus textbook and student choir trip to New York City

The Arrowhead UHS School District board voted to adopt a recommended AP precalculus textbook and approved a student choir trip to New York City during the curriculum committee portion of the meeting.

Committee member (S6) presented the recommended text, Precalculus for AP by Stuart Watson and Hamden, and said the department selected it for alignment with the AP precalculus exam and for its assessment bank and online integration. The committee reported the cost at $215 per physical book, which includes a digital access component; the materials are expected to serve the program for about six years.

After a motion and a second, the board approved the textbook by voice vote. Committee member (S6) then moved to approve the proposed student choir trip scheduled Feb. 17–22, 2027, which will include workshops, a Broadway performance and sightseeing. The administration presented a projected cost range of about $2,539 to $3,479 per participant depending on room occupancy and total headcount; the committee said 50 students equates roughly to one bus and a 100‑student turnout would affect costs and logistics. The board voted to approve the trip by voice vote.
