Lynnfield Historical Commission schedules public meeting on 321 Summer Street demolition permit

The Lynnfield Historical Commission on May 18 reviewed a demolition permit filed for 321 Summer Street and voted unanimously to place the application on the commission’s July 2 agenda for a public meeting.

Chair Klrk Mansfield said the residents of 321 Summer Street submitted a permit to tear down the entire house and build a new one; he added that commissioners had inspected the property before the meeting and considered the house “worthy of preservation.” Abigall Kilgore moved to add the item to the July 2 agenda; Vice Chair Steve Todisco seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

Mansfield said there was not enough time to place the item on the June agenda and that he would send a letter to the building inspector and the homeowner notifying them of the commission’s intent to hold a public meeting. After handling the item, Kilgore moved to adjourn, Todisco seconded, and the meeting adjourned at 6:19 p.m.

The commission did not take a final preservation vote at the May 18 meeting; the July 2 meeting will be the next opportunity for public comment and any formal action by the commission.
