Sharon welcomes new Town Energy Manager; REC Solar assumes interests in Well #5 and Middle School projects

The Town of Sharon’s Municipal Solar Oversight Committee welcomed Eden Floyd as the new Town Energy Manager and outlined her responsibilities for analyzing and reallocating solar energy and net metering credits and for preparing lifecycle projections of town energy savings.
Floyd, the committee said, will prepare spreadsheets showing where solar credits are allocated, identify needed reallocations, prepare projections of town electricity savings by project, and develop a dynamic spreadsheet of projected energy savings and financial benefits over the lifecycle of the Town’s solar projects.
Committee Chair George Aronson introduced Katie Crider of REC Solar and reported that REC Solar purchased the membership interests in the Well Site #5 and Sharon Middle School photovoltaic projects previously held by Solect Energy. Town Administrator Fred Turkington signed the Consent to Assignment Agreement for the assignment from Solect to REC Solar, covering the Well #5 lease, the Well #5 Credit Purchase Agreement, the Sharon Middle School Power Purchase Agreement, the Sharon Middle School Lease Agreement, and a Lease Amendment for Well Site #5. Committee members Arnold Wallenstein and George Aronson negotiated the amendments with REC Solar.
The minutes record that the MSOC approved the minutes from its May 14, 2026 meeting by a 3-0 vote at this session. The committee discussed continuing operational oversight and tasked Floyd with producing allocation and savings analyses to inform future financial and operational decisions.
Next steps include Eden Floyd producing the requested credit-allocation spreadsheets and projections and the committee monitoring operating project performance under REC Solar’s ownership.
