The Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration approved a motion to call a special election on Nov. 3, 2026, to place the Cobb County SPLAS referendum on the ballot, authorizing Elections staff to proceed with required notices and preparations.
Director Shanda Phillips explained that Georgia law requires the governing authority to formally call the election before staff can proceed. "Approval of the call of election authorizes staff to proceed with all required elections preparations," Phillips said.
A board member moved to call the special election and the motion was seconded. The chair took a voice vote and announced the motion passed; the chair recorded two yes votes (Jennifer and Stacy), Debbie Fisher abstaining and Regine Kendall absent.
With board approval, staff will post required notices and continue operational preparations for the referendum on the Nov. 3 ballot.
