"What is before us today is a request for an extension of the temporary moratorium that was enacted on May 12," said Jeremy, director of zoning. He told the board the original 60-day moratorium expires tomorrow and that staff requested a 90-day extension "in order for us to finalize the language and bring it back in front of this board for consideration."
A commissioner asked whether there is a maximum allowable extension. "It's gotta be a reasonable [time]," the commissioner said; Jeremy replied that 90 days is what staff considered reasonable and that the moratorium could be ended early if the ordinance is adopted before the 90 days elapse.
A commissioner moved to extend the moratorium for 90 days "as presented by staff." The clerk conducted a roll-call-style confirmation of members, and the clerk announced that the motion carried.
The meeting adjourned after the vote. No changes to the ordinance language were approved at the meeting; staff will return with proposed amendments for the board's further consideration.
