Board approves resolution to advertise RFP for 2026 fireworks stand

The Board of Alderman voted to approve Resolution 2025-102, authorizing the city administrator to advertise a request for proposals for operation of a fireworks sales stand on city property for the 2026 fireworks season.
Staff told the board the RFP would be posted Nov. 26, the bid opening is scheduled for Jan. 16 and the administration will bring a recommended selection and analysis to the Jan. 28 meeting so a stand could open around mid-June. "This is the RFP to do the fireworks stand next year in June," Steven said during the discussion.
The item passed on a voice vote after a motion and second. No individual roll-call votes were recorded in the transcript; the clerk announced that a quorum was present before the vote.
City staff said proposers typically submit two to three bids; for this RFP staff said they received a schedule that allows roughly 45 days for responses. The board did not debate substantive policy changes to the RFP during the meeting.
With the action the administration is authorized to proceed with advertising the RFP; staff will return with a recommendation and any contract details for council review in January.
