The Red Willow County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on July 13 to grant a conditional use permit to Great Plains Towers LLC for a telecommunications tower on a parcel in the southwest quarter of Section 33, Township 2 North, Range 26 West. The board adopted Resolution No. 1597 (motion by Commissioner Randy Dean, seconded by Commissioner Charles Fritsche; roll call ayes: Ted Gans, Randy Dean, Charles Fritsche).
Mike Huizenga of Great Plains Towers was present to answer commissioners’ questions; the minutes note the landowners are Bill and Julie Ellis and that construction could occur possibly in late 2026. The matter was considered during a public hearing convened at 9:30 a.m.; the board recessed the hearing at 9:35 a.m. and returned to the regular meeting before taking the adoption vote.
