The Clifton Town Council on Jan. 3 reappointed Councilmember Patrick Pline to continue as the Town Council’s representative on the Planning Commission and approved a Final Use Permit for construction of a pool and deck at 12726 Clifton Heights Lane.
The reappointment motion, made by Councilmember Steve Effros and seconded by Councilmember Darrell Poe, carried 5-0-1 with Pline recorded as abstaining. The council then approved the Planning Commission’s recommendation to issue a Final Use Permit for the Hill application (12726 Clifton Heights Lane) on a separate motion by Mayor Bill Hollaway, seconded by Councilmember Patrick Pline; that motion passed by poll, 6-0.
The Planning Commission report, which the council considered as part of the committee reports, noted the applicants, Matt and Kristin Hill, had complied with the requirements of the Preliminary Construction Use Permit issued Jan. 4, 2022; the Commission reported that all necessary Fairfax County inspections and permits had been obtained and submitted and that the Architectural Review Board confirmed the work met the issued Certificate of Appropriateness. Planning Commission Chair Kathy Kalinowski told the council the county-required revisions to the Rough Grading Plan are under Town review only to determine whether additional Town approvals are necessary, and she noted the property’s complexity because it includes both a flood plain and a designated Resource Protection Area.
Council records show the motions and vote outcomes were taken by poll as part of the meeting minutes. No amendments to the permits were recorded during the meeting. The council adjourned following completion of the agenda.
The council minutes list the Planning Commission members and note that several commissioners were present for the December 20, 2022 Planning Commission meeting that prepared the recommendation; absent commissioners were recorded in that Planning Commission report.
