Pike County approves local contracts: sheriff's-flooring, metal building erection and four digital message boards

Prater Construction quoted $38,500 to erect the 60-by-80, two-story metal building at the Robinson/Robeson Creek road lot; Wright Concrete submitted a higher, broader bid. The court approved awarding the erection work to Prater Construction and authorized payment.
Staff presented trailer-mounted full-matrix digital message signs (Traffic Devices on a Sourcewell contract). Unit price including freight was $17,941.20; totals were $53,823.60 (three units) or $71,764.80 (four units). Commissioners discussed emergency-management uses and public-notification advantages. The court voted to purchase four units for $71,764.80.
Votes on each item were recorded by roll call. County staff said the road department will pour a concrete pad for the metal building and will handle installation planning for the message signs. No contract amendments or additional contingencies were announced at the meeting.
