Wayne County engineer reports S60 closure north of Seymour; paving to resume tomorrow

Wayne County Engineer Dillon Davenport reported on the county’s road and maintenance operations at the Board of Supervisors meeting on June 23.
Davenport said a backhoe with a mulcher head was operating south of Cambria, a mower crew was working throughout the county, and a Durapatcher was working on old U.S. Highway 2 addressing the worst pavement failures. He reported that S60 north of Seymour is closed to traffic and will remain closed until the mid‑ to late part of July; paving work was expected to resume the next day and crews would then work on subdrains and shoulder rocking.
Davenport also reported that the culvert crew was working north of Bethlehem on multiple culvert replacements including a large culvert on Timber Road, and that a motor grader used in the Seymour area was struck by lightning during a recent storm and sustained damage.
Residents and motorists should follow posted detours and signage for S60 and allow additional time when traveling in areas where maintenance operations are underway. The board recorded the engineer’s report in the meeting minutes.
