Pike County fiscal court approves $362,000 transportation MOA, acknowledges library budget and names water-board appointees

The presiding judge called the court to order and the fiscal court voted to adopt a resolution authorizing execution of a memorandum of agreement with the transportation cabinet(s) for up to $362,000 to fund the Jones Fork and Big Card Road projects. The motion to adopt the resolution passed on a roll call vote.
In the same session the court acknowledged receipt of the Pike County Public Library District budget overview for fiscal year 2027. Commissioner Adkins moved to acknowledge receipt and the motion was seconded and approved by roll call. The clerk recorded the acknowledgement.
The court also approved appointments to the Mountain Water District Board, moving to appoint Chester “Chet” Hogston and Lyndon Johnson. The presiding judge described Hogston as retired from AT&T and active in community organizations and said Johnson has roughly 40 years of environmental compliance and monitoring experience. Both appointments were approved by roll call.
The court indicated a signed copy of the transportation agreement will be circulated for execution; staff will move forward with the projects once state agreement paperwork is complete. No additional conditions or contingencies were announced at the meeting.
The measures passed by simple majority on recorded roll calls. The court’s minutes list the formal approvals and the clerk recorded the votes.
