Council approves Turbine Flats expansion and alley vacation for Lincoln Lumber project

The council approved two related items July 13 for Lincoln Lumber Company: an amendment to the Turbine Flats planned unit development to add approximately 4.47 acres with a change of zone to R-6 PUD, and a vacation of a north-south alley between North 23rd and North 24th Streets south of Y Street.
Kent Secrest, representing Lincoln Lumber Company, told the council that planning staff and the planning commission supported the proposals and that neighborhood outreach included a meeting attended by six people with no objections. Secrest said the applicant is still researching historical title and right-of-way issues related to the old Missouri Pacific rail corridor and is exploring options to accommodate a trail through the property but intends to proceed with the two items before the council.
Council members expressed support for proceeding and thanked the applicant for continuing neighborhood engagement. Both items were adopted by unanimous vote.
