TOWN OF MOUNTAIN — Fire and emergency medical services updates and cemetery work were on the Sept. 9 Town Board agenda.
Chair Carey‑Mielke reported on the ambulance meeting held Aug. 28: the service recorded 39 calls in August and 26 transports, with 235 calls year‑to‑date and an average monthly transport number cited as 19. Chief Giese said fire call volume remains similar to past years and listed several items for further review, including a water‑use agreement, a quote for solar emergency warning lights at the State Highway 32/64 intersection and an FY2021 USDA grant specification under review.
The board accepted a $500 donation from Mountain Apostolic Faith Mission to the fire department. On cemetery maintenance, Asst. Sexton Sup. O'Barski reported that Kory's Tree Service removed a tree on the berm along Silver Hill Lane that posed a risk to headstones; Kory's Tree Service received a donation to cover that work and the board accepted the donation.
Humane Officer R. Giese reported an animal control matter involving two hound dogs taken into custody in connection with an arrest and noted challenges obtaining custody from Marinette County; the board recorded that a citation related to R. Berg and dog‑license/vaccination records is scheduled for Sept. 10, 2025.
