South Hill schedules FY25-26 budget adoption after public hearing

The South Hill Town Council heard the proposed FY25-26 budget, rates and fees on April 14 and voted to place the proposal on the May 12 agenda for formal adoption and appropriation.
Town Manager Keli Reekes presented the budget and responded to residents' questions about increases. Resident Tyler Howerton asked about rises in the General Fund, Facilities Management and Water & Sewer, and why capital project funds appear to roll over from year to year. Reekes said an increase in incoming funds tied to Microsoft economic activity contributed to some line-item increases and that mold remediation and an anticipated Town Hall remodel account for expected one‑time Facilities Management costs. She emphasized that capital improvements are funded from reserves rather than property taxes and offered to provide detailed budget information to any resident upon request.
Vice Mayor Gavin Honeycutt framed infrastructure investment as necessary to prevent future disruptions. Councilor Lillie Feggins-Boone moved to place the proposed budget, rates and fees on the May 12 agenda for adoption and appropriation; Councilor Delores Luster seconded. The motion passed by roll-call vote with all council members voting Aye.
The formal adoption vote is scheduled for the council's regular meeting on May 12, 2025, when council will consider final appropriation and any amendments.
