“If they read a report of someone doing something criminal, it should be investigated and looked into,” Roberts told the board, arguing that county officials—including the county attorney—have an ethical obligation to expose corruption. He said past attempts to raise concerns led to retaliatory mental-health actions against him in 2013 and that he fears further retaliation.
Board members did not take formal action in response to the comments during the meeting. The chair thanked Roberts for speaking; no county official provided a substantive response on the record and no motion to refer the matter to county staff or legal counsel was recorded in the transcript.
