Council adopts ordinance updating mayor and council pay with annual COLA

Staff said the ordinance reflects a June 9 workshop discussion and comparisons with neighboring communities.
Council members debated accessibility and public perception. Some members said the increase makes service more accessible for residents who otherwise could not afford to serve, while others noted the role remains largely civic. "I don't think it's gonna change, obviously, any of our lifestyles... this is about making adjustments that reflect the work we expect," one council member said in support.
Council member Holtz and others expressed support for including an automatic annual adjustment to avoid long gaps between reviews. The council adopted the ordinance by voice vote.
