Concord School District board authorizes notice to remain No. 1 on state building-aid list

The Concord School District Board of Education voted to authorize submission of a notice of intent to remain on the New Hampshire Department of Education Bureau of School Facilities' prioritized building-aid list for a proposed new middle school adjacent to the current middle school at 146 South Street.

Board staff member Mister Dunn told the board that Concord was ranked No. 1 on the state's prioritized list and that the district must file an annual notice by May 1 to stay on the list. "If it had been funded at the $50,000,000 per annual this fiscal year, we would be entitled to $31,800,000 that's available," Dunn said, stressing the filing preserves the district's position even though the legislature did not fund the program this cycle.

The motion, recorded as moved by Miss Campbell and seconded by Miss Meeker, approved language authorizing submission of the notice of intent and reaffirming the board's desire for the project to remain on the prioritized list for state funding consideration. The motion also ratified the project's previously approved total estimated cost of $168,777,480 and a net project cost of $155,718,801 after tax credits, rebates and early bid packages; the motion acknowledged an anticipated building-aid amount of approximately $31,800,000 as described in the Department of Education clarification letter.

There was no public comment and no extended debate before the chair called for a voice vote; the motion passed. The board will file the completed notice form with the Department of Education as required to retain its prioritized position.
