Highway Supervisor Moe Hicks told the board that “#5 compacter is 17 years old and cost approximately $5,000.00 to fix it yearly. Last year it was shut down all summer,” and urged replacement. The board approved Purchase Order #685 to Atlantic Recycling Equipment LLC for one transfer station compactor at $58,750.00 and Purchase Order #686 to Milton Cat for a Caterpillar compact track loader at $116,569.24; both motions carried 4-0.
Police Chief Michael Wallace said the department sought new protective gear to replace the current two protective gear covers. The board approved Purchase Order #683 to Angel Armor for 19 sets of protective gear totaling $46,715.13. The board also approved Purchase Order #687 to McFarland Ford Sales for two 2026 Ford Explorer police cruisers for $90,790.00. Chief Wallace told the board the gear “would replace the two protective gear covers that need to be worn now and only weigh 12 pounds.”
The board unanimously accepted a donated 10-by-8-foot metal storage shed from Lowe's to be used by the Epping Police Department for storing pop-up tents and materials for National Night Out, citing RSA 31:95-e for acceptance of certain donations.
Why it matters: The purchases replace aging equipment and update protective and fleet assets for public-safety and transfer-station operations; the compact track loader and compactor are intended to reduce repeated repair costs and downtime at the transfer station.
