Lenoir City council authorizes bid solicitation to pave multiple streets before winter

The Lenoir City Council voted Monday to authorize the purchasing committee's recommendation to solicit bids for street-paving projects to be completed before winter plant shutdowns.

A city staff member (speaker 6) told the council he did not believe the projects could wait until next spring and asked the city to put the work out to bid now so contractors could schedule paving while plants are open. In the spoken record he referred to "15, 1800 tons" when describing anticipated material needs and named Rogers Circle and Sharp Drive among streets targeted for work; he also referenced a stretch near a business identified in the transcript as "Primetops Burrito." "I don't feel like that they can wait until that spring," the staff member said.
