Council on Aging advances Jean McGuire’s nomination to select board after unanimous vote

McGuire told members she wanted to bring "fresh ideas" and help expand programming into the old high school to create more opportunities for seniors. "I just think that there's so many opportunities and so many just really good things that can come from that," she said.
A board member moved to nominate McGuire and another member seconded. When the chair called for the vote the motion carried by voice vote; the chair characterized the result as unanimous among the members present and said the board will forward McGuire’s name to the select board for formal appointment to a three-year term.
The board also agreed to table the second candidate, Cindy (listed in the record with variant spellings), until she can attend a future meeting. The chair said the board prefers to meet candidates in person before finalizing an appointment.
The action now moves to the select board, which the chair said will interview and, if it concurs, appoint the recommended candidate at a forthcoming meeting.
