Selectmen approve ambulance lease and two library/business job reclassifications; signage allowed at library

At its July 13 meeting the Board of Selectmen approved several administrative and operational items, including an ambulance lease authorization and multiple job-description changes that staff said are already budgeted.
Ambulance lease: The board moved to authorize the town manager to execute a lease for a new ambulance to be leased to the volunteer ambulance association for a five‑year period (from placement into service) or 175,000 miles, whichever occurs first. The motion included the condition that final execution remain subject to town‑attorney review. The motion was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript.
Library reclassification: Following public comment in support, the board unanimously approved revising the job description for the head of children's services to include deputy director duties, noting the position is already funded in the FY27 budget and formalizes succession responsibilities. Supporters told the board the incumbent already performs many of the duties and that the change is cost-neutral.
Business & career coordinator job description: The board also approved a revised part‑time business-and-career-center coordinator job description that clarifies duties across economic‑development and library functions and removes sustainability responsibilities from that role. The board said the position will act under the town manager’s supervision and serve as staff for EDC and other partner organizations as applicable.
Library signage: The board un‑tabled a prior item and approved allowing Greater Hartford Gives Foundation identification at the Simsbury Public Library consistent with library‑board policy; members stipulated the signage should not be a permanent affixed installation.
Several of the routine consent items were approved earlier in the meeting, and the board closed the meeting after approving minutes from recent sessions.
