"They gave examples like leaving the gravel roads because it serves as a bike path or a walking path," the Clerk said, but added the town does not dictate utility work in a company right-of-way.
Board members said they expected heavier truck traffic during construction and agreed they should track damage and invoice the company if warranted. Clerk said he receives weekly project-schedule updates for the work crossing Dalton Road and will forward notice of two public presentations (June 25 at 1 p.m. at Indian Head Resort in Lincoln and June 26 at 10 a.m. at the Mountain View Grand in Whitefield).
A board member flagged that other communities had filed lawsuits challenging the project’s necessity; the Clerk called that an example of opposition Eversource has encountered elsewhere but did not recommend litigation in Dalton. The board asked staff to review maps, confirm which town roads would be affected and share meeting information with residents.
