A committee that has been drafting a host-community agreement concerning proposed landfill activity told the Dalton Select Board that it has retained an attorney to finalize a first working draft.
"We were able to secure the attorney a couple of select board meetings ago," a committee member said, adding the attorney now has the committee’s consolidated draft and resident feedback. The committee member said the attorney will "button up tight" the document before the committee presents it to Casella.
Board members agreed that because further discussions will be attorney-client in nature, the committee will move into a nonpublic session for the detailed work. The committee member said the next meeting will begin in public, but that discussion of attorney-drafted details will occur in nonpublic.
The board did not disclose the draft’s terms in public session. Chair asked for the usual public-business steps to continue and for staff to schedule follow-up; no formal engagement with Casella was reported in the public record without counsel’s review.
