Francestown approves Central Square dispatch, raises police detail fees

Chair Karen Fitzgerald opened the meeting at 5:31 p.m. and the board heard from Chief Philibert on two police items: a move to Central Square for dispatch and records management, and an update to detail billing rates.
Chief Philibert told the board Hillsborough County will treat this year's bill as a credit so Francestown can join the Central Square program. He said the new system is expected to improve efficiency, response time and officer safety, and that the Police Department will need to budget for the subscription in the next fiscal year. After discussion, Select Board member Scot D Heath moved to accept and enter into the agreement with Central Square; Charles M Pyle III seconded the motion, which passed.
Chief Philibert also proposed aligning Francestown's detail billing with surrounding towns by increasing the officer rate from $50 to $75 and the administrative fee from $15 to $23. Mr. Heath moved to approve the proposed amendments to the detail billing fees; Mr. Pyle seconded and the motion passed.
The board did not set the subscription's budget line during the meeting; town staff will include the expected subscription cost in next year's budget planning.
