Effingham board approves warrants, heritage appointments and an outdoor event permit

The board approved a manifest dated April 9, 2026, for $42,310.10 and a manifest dated April 16, 2026, for $76,369.43; the April 16 manifest includes a $25,000 charge related to Osprey Rec Center that the board said will be split as noted. Chair (speaker 1) moved to approve the warrants and a board member seconded; both motions passed by voice vote.
On appointments, the Heritage Commission recommended reappointing Maria Crockett to a three‑year term and elevating Mark Wood from alternate to full member to fill the vacancy left by Faith Martel. A motion to appoint both passed by voice vote; board members praised the appointees’ backgrounds and service.
The board also approved an outdoor event permit for a private fundraiser on Province Lake Road (expected attendance under 80 people) with police directing traffic for the event. Chair and board members confirmed staff will place police detail for traffic routing and that the permit was approved unanimously by voice vote.
Other administrative items: staff were directed to issue an RFP for a roofing project and to convene a work session to draft three‑year road maintenance specifications with the road agent. The board adjourned at approximately 05:50.
