Committee agrees consultant should gather site information to advance fire apparatus building design

The committee reviewed consultant Sean Bergeron's recent site-walk notes and agreed to ask Bergeron's crew to collect additional site information at the fire department to move forward with design of an apparatus building and an attached meeting space. Chair (S3) said Bergeron's report was "very detailed," and members emphasized the need for concrete proposals before committing to a construction route.

Committee member (S2) said, "If your people are good with this, I'd like to turn them loose," asking that Bergeron provide an outline showing estimated hours, a rate sheet and a breakdown of tasks (drafting, engineering, on-site work) so the committee could assess likely costs. Members asked that Bergeron clarify whether the new structure would require full sprinklers; several participants warned that installing a cistern could add substantial cost.

Members discussed a phased construction plan that would begin with site work and the apparatus building, then move apparatus and later renovate the existing fire station. The group noted a planning target tied to upcoming bond timing in the third week of November and said they needed "100% complete" pricing well in advance. Options discussed for the apparatus building included preengineered steel or other off-the-shelf structures to control cost.

The committee asked Bergeron to return a concise proposal and cost estimate; members agreed that once the outline and hours/rates were provided they would reconvene to decide whether to authorize on-site work. Chair (S3) and Committee member (S2) said they would circulate Bergeron's materials by email and schedule a follow-up meeting when the consultant's scope and pricing were available.
