Sumner County forms ad hoc committee to study old courthouse; mayor says no ADA plan is in place

At the Jan. 5 General Operations Committee meeting, Chairman Ben Harris announced an ad hoc committee to study the county’s old courthouse, naming Reggie Mudd, Clay Haynes, County Mayor John Isbell, Gallatin Mayor Paige Brown and Commissioner J. Wes Wynne.
Commissioner David Klein asked to be added to the ad hoc committee and Chairman Harris declined that request at this time. Chairman Harris then asked Mayor John Isbell to address the county’s Americans with Disabilities Act planning for the courthouse; Mayor Isbell said there is not an ADA plan in place and that could affect funding with TOOT. Commissioner Wynne moved to place the ADA plan on next month’s agenda and the chair agreed to add it.
The county’s master projects list included in the committee packet shows an "Old Courthouse Renovation" line with status noted as application submitted. The ad hoc committee will work with staff and may inform future project scoping and funding discussions.
