Sumner County schools report progress on athletic projects; Innovation Center to host students Jan. 6

Director of Schools Dr. Scott Langford updated the Sumner County Education Committee on Jan. 5, 2026, reporting completion percentages for several school athletic projects and confirming that the county’s Innovation Center will host students starting Jan. 6, 2026.
Dr. Scott Langford said Beech’s athletic facility is about 97% complete, Hendersonville about 85% complete, Merrol Hyde about 47% complete, Gallatin about 59% complete and Station Camp is complete. He said school leaders are considering additional capital projects but are waiting for state sales tax revenue to arrive before advancing new work.
"Students will be in the building for the first time on January 6, 2026, for Criminal Justice, Leadership, and Aviation classes," Dr. Langford said. He also gave a brief overview of Budget Amendment #2, which appears on the committee agenda as item 10b1.
The update provides timeline and planning context for capital work across Sumner County schools; however, officials did not vote on additional capital allocations at the Jan. 5 meeting. Committee members received the reports and moved on to other agenda items. The committee meeting was held at the Sumner County Administration building in Gallatin.
