Nelson Select Board approves permits, appoints health officer and OKs Lake Host funding

Chair Brenna Kucinski and Selectman Mike Blaudschun led a series of routine votes. Selectman Mike Blaudschun moved to approve the May 28 meeting minutes and the manifests for June 4 and June 11; Kucinski seconded and each motion carried 3-0. Blaudschun then moved to approve a building permit for S. Silverstein to construct a new dwelling with a single apartment and attached garage; Kucinski seconded and the motion carried 3-0. The board likewise approved a building permit for C. Kirk to construct a steel workshop building (motion by Blaudschun; seconded by Kucinski; carried 3-0).
The board noted receipt of official notice of Wayne Kassotis’s appointment as an NH Health Officer. No discussion of duties or term length was recorded.
On the Conservation Commission’s recommendation, the board approved payment of $5,100 to support Lake Host programs on Silver Lake, Granite Lake and Nubanusit Lake. Selectman Blaudschun moved to approve the $5,100 and to request the Trustee of Trust Funds transfer the amount from the expendable trust so checks can be issued; Kucinski seconded and the motion carried 3-0. The minutes note this $5,100 total is $100 above this year’s deposit into the Milfoil Fund. Board members discussed, but did not finalize, moving annual Lake Host funding into the Conservation Commission budget to simplify the current deposit-and-withdrawal process.
The board also read a thank-you letter from Child Advocacy Services acknowledging the town’s 2025 contribution.
The meeting adjourned at 4:25 PM; the board will next meet on June 25, 2025, at 3:00 PM.
