The Speedway Town Council voted 3‑0 on July 13 to approve Resolution 2026‑11, designating a four‑year personal property tax abatement for Coca‑Cola Bottling Consolidated LLC to support installation of a new glass bottle line at its Speedway facility.
Kyle Markley introduced company representatives, and Ali Gormley, director of government relations for Coca‑Cola Bottling Consolidated, told the council the project is a major company investment. She said the first‑year real and personal property investment is $31,000,500 and the company expects to add 16 jobs with an average salary of about $51,000.
“The glass bottle line is set for construction this year and we hope to have it fully operational by December 2027,” Gormley said, and described the line as the first new glass bottle line in the United States in more than five decades.
Gormley outlined the requested abatement schedule and estimated tax savings of about $908,000 over four years. As part of its inclusivity plan, the company committed $91,000 to infrastructure improvements along Georgetown Road; town staff clarified that Georgetown Road is under the City of Indianapolis jurisdiction and that coordination with that city will be required for those improvements.
Town Manager Grant Kleinhans noted the abatement is a 50% reduction over four years (meaning the company will also pay roughly the same amount in taxes over the period) and emphasized the town’s goal of retaining and growing local manufacturing jobs. Council approved the resolution without roll call dissent.
Resolution 2026‑11 and the council’s vote are recorded in the meeting minutes.
