Nelson selectmen approve security cameras for Safety Building

The Nelson Select Board voted 3-0 on Sept. 3 to buy a security camera system for the Safety Building and surrounding Highway area, approving purchase and wiring not to exceed $6,500.
At the meeting, J. Filipi presented a vendor quote of $5,357 for cameras from Amity and estimated the total with wire, connectors and supplies would be about $6,000. The package presented would place five cameras for the Police Department and eight more around the Safety and Highway buildings, include a three-year warranty and vendor training and support, and require 50 percent of the contract price at signing. Board members Mike Blaudschun and an individual identified as Joe agreed to run the wiring.
Chair Brenna Kucinski moved to approve the purchase "including wiring and connection equipment and supplies not to exceed $6,500," and Selectman Mike Blaudschun seconded; the motion passed 3-0. The Board did not specify funding source in the motion.
The system vendor was identified as Amity in the presentation. The installation plan and warranty were cited by the Board as reasons to proceed; training and vendor troubleshooting service were included in the quoted package. The Board recorded the motion and vote as part of the meeting minutes.
