Nelson Select Board approves tax warrant, permits, paving agreement and equipment lease

The Town of Nelson Select Board met May 14, 2025 and approved a series of routine municipal actions, including the 2025 First Issue Property Tax Warrant and several payment manifests.
Selectman Mike Blaudschun moved to approve the tax warrant; Chair Brenna Kucinski seconded and the motion carried 3-0. The board also approved the April 30 meeting minutes, manifests for May 7 and May 14, and a corrected manifest for April 30 following a voided check and vendor billing error; each motion was made by Blaudschun, seconded by Kucinski, and carried 3-0.
The board approved sending 'Doomage' letters to W. Mullen and R. Rowse for failure to report a timber cut prior to the reporting deadline; that motion carried 3-0. The Select Board approved Building Permits for S. & L. Ryder and for J. Frechette after the Zoning Board of Adjustment granted setback variances; the Frechette permit was noted as contingent on the addition remaining a porch attached to the existing structure. Each permit was approved by motion and carried 3-0.
After review, the Select Board approved an agreement with the New Hampshire Department of Transportation for a Route 9 paving project and authorized submitting signed documentation to NHDOT. The board also approved and signed a Highway Loader lease agreement with John Deere Credit. Both motions carried 3-0.
The Select Board approved adding an owner-signed acknowledgement of applicable State Building and Fire Codes to all approved building permits; the form was presented in the meeting and a motion to add it passed unanimously.
The board noted that the Agricultural Commission currently lacks enough active members to hold legal meetings and said they will contact the acting chair regarding recruitment or recommendations for appointment. The Planning Board asked that town boards and commissions meet to promote completion of a Master Plan survey; the Select Board agreed the Planning Board should organize the outreach and consider a notice in the Black Fly.
The meeting adjourned at 5:00 PM; the next regular meeting is scheduled for May 28, 2025 at 3:00 PM.
