Nelson Select Board approves cemetery contract, denies small building permit and signs routine warrants

The Town of Nelson Select Board on April 30 approved several routine measures and took two substantive actions, including awarding a cemetery maintenance contract and denying a building permit.
Chair Brenna Kucinski and Selectmen Michael Blaudschun and Don Carlisle convened at 3:00 PM. Selectman Michael Blaudschun moved to approve the minutes of the April 16 meeting and to approve the manifests for April 23 and April 30; Chair Brenna Kucinski seconded both motions and each carried 3-0.
The board then approved a 2025 cemetery maintenance proposal from Pathways Landscaping for $10,800. The motion to accept the proposal was made by Blaudschun, seconded by Kucinski, and carried 3-0.
After reviewing submitted plans, the board voted to deny a building permit for T. & C. Newcombe and to refer the applicants to the Zoning Board of Adjustment to seek a variance for the street-line setback. The board also agreed not to charge the permit fee because the proposed accessory structure is under 100 square feet but did require a $45 site inspection fee. The motion was made by Blaudschun, seconded by Kucschun, and carried 3-0.
The board did not identify additional conditions beyond referral to the ZBA. No public hearing or appeal was recorded at the April 30 meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 4:00 PM.
