The Owensville Board of Aldermen on Feb. 3 authorized the purchase of a city SUV and approved a spending cap of $30,000. Alderman Bohl moved to authorize the City Administrator to purchase a replacement SUV; Alderman Lahmeyer seconded the motion and it carried without dissent. A follow-up motion (moved by Alderman Bohl and seconded by Alderman Breeden) set a not‑to‑exceed price of $30,000 and also carried without dissent.
City staff said the 2010 Jeep Compass will be declared surplus and offered for sale after the replacement is acquired. Officials noted there is $18,000 in the city account from the value of a Ford Explorer that had been returned to the police fleet, funds that can be applied toward the purchase along with other available balances.
Why it matters: The vehicle will support administrative and city operations; the board authorized funds and set procurement parameters to move forward without delay.
What was decided: Two separate motions were adopted: authorization to purchase a replacement SUV for city use, and a spending cap of $30,000 for that purchase. Both passed unanimously by voice vote (minutes: "carried without dissent").
Next steps: Staff will proceed with procurement within the approved limit and prepare the 2010 Jeep Compass for surplus disposition once a replacement is secured.
