Stephenson Memorial trustees to seek grants and press Select Board on ramp, electrical repairs

At their June 15 meeting, the Stephenson Memorial Library trustees discussed repair needs to the front entrance and directed staff to pursue grant funding and Select Board support for upgrades.
Director Ella Cademortori told trustees that the library’s entrance ramp was damaged, which staff attribute to winter salt use by the Department of Public Works, and that the front door and brickwork may need repair. She said the library will apply to the Land and Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP) when the next application cycle opens in September 2026 and will also explore an ADA grant to fund ramp work. "Ella will see if the LCHIP grant can cover the cost to replace the damaged ramp, front door, and clean the bricks," the director reported.
Trustees also heard from DPW that funds previously approved in 2025 for an electrical upgrade will need to be increased to $40,000 from a $36,000 cap. Chair Andra Hall said she will raise the requested increase with the Select Board at the library’s July meeting. The trustees asked Ella to coordinate with the LCHIP assessor, the Select Board and DPW on project scope and timing.
The board did not vote on a specific contract or award at the meeting; they recorded direction to pursue grant options and to seek Select Board approval for any budget adjustments. The Select Board is scheduled to attend the trustees’ next meeting on July 13, 2026, to discuss capital items.
