The clerk-auditor reported, “We had 2,139 ballots that we counted,” and said 67 ballots that arrived after election day were ineligible for counting because the county requires ballots to be physically received by election day rather than only postmarked. The clerk-auditor also said 13 ballots were initially flagged for signature problems; the county sent letters and four voters returned affidavits that validated their ballots, which were added to the totals.
The clerk-auditor told commissioners the required post-election audit — using a random batch selected by the lieutenant governor’s office and conducted by staff who had not counted on election night — was completed the previous Thursday and revealed no discrepancies.
A commissioner identified during the roll call as Jordan Leonard moved to approve the canvas of results for the June 23 election; a colleague seconded the motion. The chair conducted a roll call and the motion carried. After the vote the chair thanked the clerk-auditor for her work on the canvass.
The meeting record and audit results will remain part of the official election files; commissioners made no additional motions affecting the outcome and no further action was taken at the session.
